The law library has highlighted the individuals below for Black History Month 2023.

Richard T. Greener Graduated from USC School of Law and joined the SC Bar in 1876. First librarian at USC. Implemented a modern catalog system.

Mary McLeod Bethune
Born in Mayesville, SC in 1875
First African American woman to head a federal agency in 1935

 

Charles Bolden, Jr.
Born in Columbia, SC in 1946
First African American to permanently head NASA in 2009

Jasmine Twitty
Appointed associate judge of the Easley, SC municipal court in 2015
25 years old at the time, she was the youngest judge in the United States
